Tahoe Park, Sacramento, CA

The Tahoe Park neighborhood centers around it’s namesake recreational space, immediately less than a mile from California State University. The park itself is home to an array of amenities, including a swimming pool, wading pool, horseshoe pit, soccer field, and volleyball and basketball courts. Families with small kids will appreciate the presence of the ‘Tot Lot’ playground.

During the early 20th Century, the area was at the far southeastern corner of the newly-expanded city limits. In 1946, a further 19 acres of land were purchased and transformed into Tahoe Park, named after the nearby Tahoe Elementary School. In 1991, residents formed the Tahoe Park Neighborhood Association (TPNA), which focuses on community concerns such as traffic and crime and liaising between neighborhood and local government with monthly public board meetings taking place at the Tahoe Community Center. The TPNA is credited with fostering community spirit, regularly running clothing and food drives, holiday mixers, and even a spring bowling tournament in the park.

The park operates as the locale’s definitive focal point. Residents regularly commune for movies and concerts in the park, served by an impressive variety of food trucks offering a range of culinary treats. Gazebos with picnic tables and BBQ facilities are dotted around this delightful commons.

Today, Tahoe Park is an attractive alternative to costlier parts of the city, popular with first-time buyers and real estate professionals alike.
